Medical Facilities
Sketch Architecture Company has had the opportunity to design many types of medical facilities, offices, surgical centers, imaging centers, dental offices, pain clinics, hospice, pharmacies, cardiac care, and veterinarian animal clinics. The challenge on designing for medical uses is the mix of efficiency and style. While a beautifully designed building is always a plus, how the workflow moves through the office is of more importance.
Efficiency in plan, from check-in to check-out needs to be carefully planned. The number of steps a doctor, PA, or nurse walks and the time it takes to move through the different areas of treatment is vitally important to the well-working of the facility. Additionally, the patient needs to have an environment that is comforting, logical in way-finding, and well designed in color, textures, and visual appeal. The experience begins in the waiting room and sets the tone of the over-all experience of the patient. Exam rooms should be comfortable, secure, sound isolated, and pleasing to the patient, visually. The more the patient is at ease the perceived “bedside manner” of the doctor is enhanced, creating a bond where information may flow easily.
